Japan: Shousui Matcha
Koicha Grade Matcha that is stone ground and grown by farmers in Kyotonabe City in Uji and shaded for about 4 weeks. Shousui is our matcha selection that is most complex in taste and aroma. The blend of this matcha is comprised of the same type of cultivar, Samidori, that is present in all our selections. This time Asahi lends some of its refreshing chocolate bitterness to the top notes, giving Gokoh the aftertaste. Gokoh is the king of matcha or gyokuro cultivars and its depth of taste and aroma are exquisite!
All of our matcha selections are the same grade and quality. The only difference you will find are the types of tea tree cultivars that are used. The use of different cultivars gives each matcha its own character and taste. Certain cultivars are more expensive due to the small amount of harvest and the skills needed to masterfully grow and process them.
Matcha is not just a simple tea to us. It is part of our everyday health regimen and our tea practice. We are long time practitioners of Chanoyu through the Urasenke school and have dedicated our lives to the art of tea.. Our goal is to offer the purest taste, without compromising quality, at a reasonable price.
Stone ground and grown by farmers in Kyotonabe city and consists of a blend of Samidori, Asahi, Gokou. Matcha with a medium complexity taste that is suitable for both thick and thin tea.
30% Gokoh, 20% Asahi, 50% Samidori
Sweet, vegetal taste with an elegant bitterness. Long finish with a slight floral notes.
15 x 2g for thin tea (usucha) or 5 x 6g for thick tea (koicha)
